Rockport, Texas
Weather: low 74 degrees, high 84 degrees, cloudy early, then clear skies, windy
Carolyn needed a mall fix, so we decided to take a ride down to Corpus Christi. Like everything else, it has changed so much since we were last there that we had a problem recognizing where we were. Everywhere, that is, except around the aircraft carrier Lexington and Texas Aquarium. Those two places were not our destinations today, so we kept moving to the first mall. You read right, first mall. We actually visited two different malls, so maybe Carolyn is over that experience for the time being. In fact, I know she is, as she said she didn't know why she wanted to go at all. The malls seem to be stocked with stuff (junk?) for the younger set, and many of the stores were closed or vacant.
It was getting near time to head back to Rockport by the time Carolyn had enough malling, so we punched in the destination in the GPS and followed the directions to get back to Texas 35 north and back home.
After resting at home for a few minutes, I went to the local Rockport Aquarium to see what that was about. The aquarium is located at the Rockport Harbor, and is supported by donations and the city. The focus is on local sea life, including these sea anemones.
Here's some more fish seen at the Rockport Aquarium.
The aquarium didn't have a large selection of fish, but it was a nice break in the day to be able to see what's swimming around out there.
Outside the aquarium was this mural that gives a good idea of what this area is about. Fishing, sun, water, beach, birds....
The wind was blowing hard today, and here's a picture of the water and beach, with whitecaps showing.
Nothing exciting happened today. Just another day in the life of a retiree.
More later, be safe.
