Picking Up Pecans

Blum, Texas

Weather: low 31 degrees, high 45 degrees, mostly clear skies, windy

We didn't see any snow yesterday when the bad weather went through, but there is a good chance we'll see some tomorrow. If the weather's not too cold and there's not too much snow, we may move to another campground.

Carolyn had two more medical tests to take care of today, and she passed with flying colors. She's finished with her medical stuff, but I still have one more examination next Wednesday. If I do okay with that, we'll be moving south next Thursday.

We had a couple more chores to take care of while we were away from the RV, and it was almost 1500 hours by the time we arrived home. After resting a little, I went out into the campground and picked up some of the pecans that are covering the trees and ground. They may be small, but these pecans have a taste that is outstanding. In addition, their shells are very similar to the paper shell type. That makes them easy to shell and eat. By the time I stopped because I was so cold, I had picked up about five pounds. That should last a few weeks.

Another RV moved into the campground while we were gone. They parked about 500 feet away, so we won't even know they're around. That makes two RVs here, including ours. Do you think the cold weather might have something to do with the lack of campers?

The campground we're in has 36 spaces at this time. According to one of the camp hosts, the COE has a long term plan to add another 50 sites, another bath house and restrooms, an equestrian trail, and hiking trails. All of this for a campground that only has two campers at this time. I wonder if they know something I don't?

Here's hoping we get some snow tonight and tomorrow. Carolyn's like a kid when it snows. I kinda like it, too.

More later, be safe.
