Rockport, Texas

Rockport, Texas

Weather: low 55 degrees in Bay City, Texas, high 89 degrees in Rockport, Texas, clear skies

Back on the road again! We're currently parked at Big D RV Resort, located just outside Rockport on Copano Bay. This park has about 100 sites with paved pads and parking, and full hookups including cable TV, 30 and 50 amps electric, a fishing pier, and all the other little things that we usually don't have a need for. The park charges extra for 50 amps, but we can get by with 30 amps since we only have one air conditioner. They also charge extra for cable TV, but we have our satellite dish, so we used it instead. Just a few examples of stuff we can usually do without. Oh, and this park is a member of the Passport America network, so we saved half the rent with that. Am I cheap? I guess some would say I am, but why pay more for something when you don't have to? I prefer to think of us as being thrifty.

We left Bay City about 1000 hours, and even though we drove about 55 mph, we were still here by a little after 1200. The traffic was light, and we weren't fighting a head wind. We took our time setting everything up since it had been about nine weeks since we had moved. The list we use to make sure we sure do everything right came in handy. No problems with setup, and the first thing we did after setting up was turn the air conditioner on. Lunch was next, which turned out to be leftovers. That wasn't a problem with me, since I tend to like them. In fact, we even had leftovers for supper. Looks like we'll have to do something different tomorrow. Can you spell seafood?

We didn't do anything after setting up except take things easy. After all, it's been awhile since we traveled, and I'm not rested from the job yet. We're going to get out tomorrow and see what's going on in the area. Just the little bit we've seen so far has shown us that the area has changed a lot since we were last here. In the meantime,

More later, be safe.
