Battery Maintenance

Bay City, Texas

Weather: low 68 degrees, high 82 degrees, clear skies early, partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon, winds 20-30 mph

The contrast in the weather the last two days has been amazing. Yesterday morning, the temperature was in the middle 30s with frost. Today, the low was 68 degrees, and it got up to 82 degrees. The warmer temperatures are more to my liking, but Carolyn likes it to be a little cooler. I think she'll get enough of the cooler weather when we go back to Alabama next week.

Carolyn is still having problems with her back, and used the heating pad all day. The only time she left the RV was to ride into town with me to pick up something at a store. We're hopeful she'll feel well enough tomorrow so we can ride down to Matagorda, which is about 20 miles away. We always like to visit the beach when we're here. Someday, we plan to stay at the RV park that was recently built near where the Colorado River empties into the Gulf of Mexico.

I washed three loads of clothes this morning at a laundry we had used before. I don't think we will use that laundry again, because it has been allowed to deteriorate to the point that the machines are undependable, and the housekeeping is very poor.

Later in the day, between doing what I needed to for Carolyn so she would take it easy, I had to clean the battery connections on the truck. It had started dragging a little when starting, and Auto Zone checked it out for me. They found that the battery was fine. After cleaning everything up and tightening the connections, the truck started much easier. I'm going to have to start performing that and other simple maintenance on a routine basis again. We were so busy doing other things this summer that we ignored some things that we used to do.

We paid our rent for our RV site through next Tuesday. We plan to leave a week from today, headed back to Alabama for the holidays. At this time, our plan is to leave Alabama about the middle of January for an undetermined period of time. In the meantime, we will enjoy the rest of our time here in Bay City.

More later, be safe.
