Preps For Leaving

Bay City, Texas

Weather: low 60 degrees, high 86 degrees, cloudy skies, showers, winds up to 30 mph

The weather didn't follow its normal pattern of having the low temperature in the morning. This morning when we got up, the temperature was 72 degrees. At the time this post is being written at 20000 hours, it is less than 60 degrees, and cooling down. We were on our way from Lori's house going back to the RV when the weather front passed through. There was an immediate change in the feel of the air, with it feeling dryer, and the temperature began falling. We could watch the temperature falling by the minute on the truck thermometer.

After the morning walk, we started getting things ready to leave here tomorrow. I washed two loads of clothes at the campground laundry so that if we were not able to go to a laundry for a few days, it wouldn't be a problem. Then I dumped the holding tanks so we can travel with as little weight as possible. Once that chore was finished, I had some errands to do in town, including going to the bank.

When I got back to the RV, I was stopped before going inside by a new arrival at the campground who was having problems setting up his satellite dish. He asked if I could help him, so I grabbed my equipment and worked for a little while before realizing that he had hooked the wrong cable to the wrong outlet on his system. Makes it a little hard to get a signal if nothing is hooked up right. I continued helping the new guy for a little longer, then had to leave to pick up Zoe at school and take her home.

We left Zoe at home and went to Terrell and Kathy's for a visit. He retired earlier this year and seems to be adjusting well to the leisure life. She is doing well in her battle against cancer, and we hope everything continues well for her.

On our way back to the RV, we stopped at Lori's house to visit and let them know we may be leaving tomorrow. Julian had good news about his PSAT, and he wasn't even trying. He scored in a very high percentile, and when he takes the SAT for real, he should be able to do well enough to go to just about any state school he would like. Way to go, Julian!!

If the weather is good enough tomorrow, we plan to start back to Alabama. However, the forecast is not good, with rain and high winds in the forecast. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

More later, be safe.
