Merry Christmas

Coker, Alabama

Weather: low 50 degrees, high 59 degrees, cloudy, light showers late in the afternoon

Christmas has always been a time that is special to us. Family gatherings, good food, gifts from the heart, remembering those less fortunate than us, and remembering the reason this season is most special.

Remembering loved ones who have passed on. Thinking about loved ones who are elsewhere. I can remember when our extended family would gather at a central location for dinner and gift exchanges. Unfortunately, many of those family members are no longer with us, and others have moved for better opportunities. This modern world we live in, with all the material wealth, is lacking in some of the things we consider most important.

Our family is no different than most others, with members living all over the country. We would like to be with all of them, but it is impossible. Instead, we try to see as many of them during the year as possible. To us, it is Christmas every time we are with family, and we are thankful that we are able to live the lifestyle we have that enables us to do the things we do.

Our friends are important to us at this time of year. We appreciate the friends we have and enjoy seeing them. Life would not be as full without them.

Many times, we tend to take for granted the sacrifices of the personnel in the armed forces of our country. It is always important to appreciate them and think about their families and loved ones.

More later, be safe.
